Peter Bachmann

Peter R. Bachmann, 87, a farmer "all he ever wanted to be" of 6329 Ourtown Rd. Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2011 at his home. Peter was born on January 16, 1924 in Chicago, IL, son of Harrold and Carita (Reiss) Bachmann. He attended Latin School for Boys in Chicago and graduated from Choate Prep School in Connecticut. On October 2, 1976 he married Verena Enders in the Town of Wilson. Previously he married Annabell Isaacs in January 1945. Peter was a lifelong farmer and owned Bachmann Implements for over 30 years. Previously, he was co-owner of Pinehurst Farms for several years with his brother, David. Peter was a 50 year member of First Congregational Church in Sheboygan, where he sang in the choir. He served on the Kohler School Board for several years. He loved traveling, both with Verena and his entire family to fantastic locations. Peter also enjoyed gardening, spending hours in his potting shed happily preparing his plants for spring. He loved to sing, both in the church choir and with the Community Players, dance, play bridge and participate in Fun Club. Peter loved bringing friends and family together for parties at his farm. He was known for meeting strangers and leaving them as friends. His family was the world to him, and he was the top of the mountain to all of them. Peter is survived by his wife of 35 years, Verena Bachmann; his daughter, Patricia (Doug) Livingstone of Great Falls, MT; three sons, Jarry (his fiancee' Cheryl) Bachmann of Evergreen, CO, Jack (Lisa) Bachmann of Sheboygan Falls and Jim Bachmann of Verona; one daughter-in-law, Rosanne Bachmann of Sheboygan Falls; two step-daughters, Deb Rohde (partner Barb) of Madison and Lynn (Rob) Vander Schaaf of Sheboygan Falls; one step-son, Steve (Betsy) Rohde of Sheboygan Falls; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Joan (Frank) Ribich of Sheboygan; one brother, David Bachmann Sr. of Sheboygan; two sisters-in-law, Kathy Mervar of Sheboygan, Sally (Steve) Dahlby of MN; two brothers-in-law, Dan (Joyce) Enders of Ohio and Eugene (Linda) Enders of New Holstein. Peter was preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey and Gene Bachmann, his parents, and his sister, Mary (Milt) Jannone. A Celebration of Peter's life will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2011 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at the family farm. A memorial fund has been established in Peter's name for St. Mary Catholic School, the Friends of St. Nicholas Hospital and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
