Peggy Ann Mehre, of Oostburg, formerly of Milwaukee and Pecatonica, IL, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Sheboygan Health Services. She was 85 years old.

Peggy was born February 14, 1938 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Wesley and Marguerite (Pratt) Lutey. She attended Wauwatosa High School, graduating in 1956. She later studied at Alverno College.

Peggy worked in the corporate offices of Boston Store for 16 years, retiring in 2004.

A member of St. Luke United Methodist Church in Sheboygan, Peggy was active in Unted Methodist Women and enjoyed partaking in Jesus & Java. She formally belonged to the Pecatonica United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church of West Allis where she was a lay pastor. For many years, she enjoyed serving as a Stephen Minister providing outreach to those in need. 

Peggy loved her many friendships with the residents of her apartment building, sewing, gardening, her dear pets, and visiting with her neighbors on her many walks with her yorkie, Max. Above all, she cherished her children and grandchildren.

A commitment to family and church guided Peggy through life. Her strength, resilience and unwavering faith carried her through the many obstacles she overcame. Through it all, she was always able to find joy in the many ways she was blessed.

Peggy is survived by her children: Bob (Kristine) Mehre of Oostburg and Teri Anne (Brian) Wales of Elkhorn; grandchildren Matthew Sanville (Tess Brzycki), Kyle Sanville, Andrea Mehre (Hunter Schuettke) and Nicholas Mehre; brother-in-law Earl (Ruth) Mehre of Sheboygan; other relatives, neighbors and many special friends.

Peggy is preceded in death by her siblings: Cecil Lutey, Leona Schultz, Norma Lincoln, Robert Lutey, William Lutey and Warren Lutey.

A private family memorial will be held at St. Luke United Methodist Church with Pastor Cindy Thompson assisting the family.

Memorials are suggested in Peggy’s name to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.

A special thank you to the staffs of Sheboygan Health Services and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice as well as Chaplain Joe Zenk and Pastor Kyle Backhaus for their compassionate and loving care of Peggy and her entire family.
