Pauline TeStroete, 98, formerly of Cedar Grove and Howards Grove passed away on Wednesday morning February 24, 2010 at her daughter's home in Phoenix, Arizona. Pauline was born on December 20, 1911 in Lincoln, NE, daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth (Yakel) Kehm. Pauline married the late Herbert Mahler on December 16, 1944 in Sheboygan. He preceded her in death in October 1971. On March 12, 1977 she married Alvin TeStroete at Trinity Lutheran Church in Howards Grove. Alvin preceded her in death on March 25, 1987. Pauline was employed as a housekeeper with Lakeland College for about ten years before her retirement.. Pauline was a member of the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove where she was active in the choir. Previously she was a longtime member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Howards Grove. Pauline enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and puzzles. She looked forward to spending Christmas time and the winter months visiting with her daughter and family in Arizona. Survivors include her daughter, Karen (Richard) Janke of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren, Alicia (Brian) Quintana, Jeremy and Jonathan Janke, Robert (Kristine) and Roger Mahler; three great grandchildren, Ashlee Quintana, Mitchell and Lindsey Mahler; a step daughter, Carol Amberg of Florida; two step daughters-in-law, Beatrice TeStroete of Sheboygan and Gloria TeStroete of Cedar Grove; numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Stanish of Illinois; two nephews, Richard (Jan) Visser, and Ralph (Judy) Grunewald; four nieces, Diane Lutzke, Joyce (Bennie) Fritz, Doris Werner, and Mary Lee (Leonard) Koenigs; and one cousin, Isabelle Klokow. Pauline was preceded in death by her first and second husband, Herbert Mahler and Alvin TeStroete; one son, Alan Mahler; two sisters, Marie Werner and Rose Kohl; one brother, Henry Kehm; three step sons, Calvin, Richard and Dale TeStroete; and a step daughter, Virginia (Eugene) Teunissen. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 11 am at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg with the Rev. Kent Vant Hul officiating. Burial will take place at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of Herman. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Tuesday from 10 am until the time of the service at 11 am. A memorial fund is being established in her memory for the Hospice of the Valley, 1510 East Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014-5656.
