Paul TeLindert

Paul "Buck" TeLindert, 86, of Oostburg, passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls. Paul was born on September 4, 1930 in Oostburg to Ben and Wilma (Haartman) TeLindert. He is a 1948 graduate of Oostburg High School. On December 21, 1951 he married Loraine Back in Gibbsville. Paul served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1952-1954. Paul worked for the Sheboygan County Highway Department as a bridge crew foreman for 41 years until his retirement in 1990. Paul was a lifelong member of First Reformed Church in Oostburg, he served as deacon, elder and Sunday school superintendent. Paul served on the Oostburg Cemetery board, was a member of the Hartman-Lammers American Legion Post 286, serving as Commander, and enjoyed doing the grilling every summer at the 4th of July Picnic. He was a charter member of the Oostburg Rescue Squad, served 30 years with the Oostburg Fire Department, was an Eagle Scout and Scout Leader. Paul enjoyed fishing, gardening, doing yardwork and traveling with his wife, Loraine, to 48 states. Paul loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. Paul is survived by his wife of 64 years, Loraine; two sons, Glen (Gloria) TeLindert and Mark (Ruth) TeLindert; one daughter, Joan (Brian) Hilbelink; six grandchildren, David (Macrae Husting) TeLindert, Greg (Jennifer) TeLindert, Nancy (Jeremy) Huenink, Diane (Brett) Navis, Renee Hilbelink, and Nicholas (Kathleen) Hilbelink; seven great grandchildren, Justin, Samantha, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Dylan, Henry and Remington; one brother, Ivan (Ann) TeLindert. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, one infant sister, Dorothy and one brother-in-law, Randall (Marion) Back. A funeral service to celebrate Paul's life will be held on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 11 am at First Reformed Church in Oostburg, with Rev. Kent Vant Hul officiating. Burial will be at Oostburg Cemetery in the town of Holland with military honors. Relatives and friends may gather on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg from 4-8 pm and again on Friday at the church from 10 am until the time of service at 11 am. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Paul's name for First Reformed Church of Oostburg and the Sheboygan County Cancer Care Fund.
