Ora-Zella Mercer, 72, of Sheboygan, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at the Golden Living Center. Ora-Zella was born on June 9, 1938 in Cape Girardeau, MO, the daughter of John and Marion (Hunt) Smith. She graduated from Anchorage Alaska High School in 1957 and attended the University of Alaska-Anchorage. On March 14, 1958 she married Ellis W. Mercer in Anchorage. Ellis preceded her in death on April 18, 2004. Ora-Zella was a member of Fountain Park United Methodist Church in Sheboygan where she was a member of the choir. She volunteered her time with the Caregivers Group of Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. She was an artist who loved to oil paint, and was an avid quilter. Ora-Zella is survived by two daughters, Gretchen (Neil) Collin of Calgary, Alberta Canada and Cynthia (Gilbert) Pascual of Phoenix, AZ; one son, Ellis "Trey" Mercer III of Dixon, IL; three grandchildren, Amber-Starr Choma, April Choma and Austin Mercer; two great-grandchildren, Ashton and Trent Choma; other relatives and friends. Ora-Zella was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ellis, her infant son Kenneth, two brothers James and Bert Smith. Private family services will be held. Memorials in Ora-Zella's name may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.
