Norman Huibregtse

Norman M. Huibregtse, 79, of Oostburg died at his home on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 following a very brief illness with cancer. Norman was born on April 14, 1936 in the Town of Holland, the son of the late Arnold and Delia (Oonk) Huibregtse. Norman attended Oostburg High School and served in the US National Guard. He married Violet Navis in Cedar Gove on June 1, 1956. He was a machinist at Mercury Marine in Fond du Lac for 42 years before his retirement in 1998. He and his wife owned and operated Pleasant View Nursery in Oostburg for 40 years before their son, Mike took over the operation. He was a longtime member at First Reformed Church in Oostburg where he served as usher and Sunday school superintendent. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, making fishing lures, snowmobiling, bowling, oil painting, hunting and spending time in the nursery. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Vi; one daughter, Dr. Patti (Dr. David) Bradley of Greensboro, GA; four sons, Mike (Mary), Mark (Patti), Randy (Lori) Huibregtse, all of Oostburg, Dennis (Dean) Huibregtse of Sheboygan; 15 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Peternella Huibregtse of Sheboygan Falls and two brothers-in-law, Virgil (Elaine) Navis of Sheboygan and Orland "OJ" Navis of Mauston. Norman was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Debra Mae Huibregtse; one sister, Laverne (Howard) Velier; two brothers, Donald and Ellsworth Huibregtse; and a nephew, Jeffrey Velier. A memorial service to celebrate Norman's life will take place on Friday evening, May 22, 2015 at 6 pm at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg with the Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Inurnment will take place at the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Family and friends will gather at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg on Friday from 3pm until the time of the service at 6 pm.
