“May the luck of the Irish enfold you. Saint Patrick behold you.”
On Wednesday, March 17th, 2021, Nora Salata, loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great- Grandmother passed away just days before her birthday. Nora was born in County Donegal, Ireland on March 21st, 1934 to Padrick and Sarah (McGeever) McGinley. She left Ireland to work and live in Scotland, where she met her husband Jerzy, and later moved to England before coming to the United States in 1958 and making a loving home for her family.
Nora’s greatest present to her family and friends was her presence. Nora took great pride and pleasure in being present to all of her family. Spending time with her family was her daily passion. “Nana” cared for her grandchildren and great grandchildren by demonstrating continued love, warmth, and understanding and acting as a positive role model in each of their lives. Attending school and sporting events for her grandchildren was a favorite pastime for her. She was also a lover of flowers and her gardens and hanging plants brought pleasure to many over the years. Her love of life and ability to have fun in any atmosphere will be missed. Most of all Nora will be remembered for her acceptance and generosity to others, loving heart, and kind and compassionate spirit.
Nora was preceded in death by her husband Jerzy in 2007, brother Teague, son-in-law Bill Ghode, and granddaughter Amelia Salata. She is survived by her 5 children, Karol (Betty) Salata, Sarah (Bill) Larson, Helen (Warren) Leider, Noreen (Mitch) Hogan, and Mona Salata-LaBudde, her grandchildren Aaron Salata, Noah Salata, Zachary (Kayla) Salata, Hannah (Justin) Collins, Rachael Salata, Ashley (John) Clarke, Alex (Itzel) Larson, Jake Larson, Morgan, Dylan, and Jordyn Hogan, Emma and Samuel LaBudde, great grandchildren Clarity and Decla Salata, Darwin and Curie Salata, Astor and Winifred Salata, Makenna and Maya Collins, Nora and Ellie Clarke. She is also survived by her brother Dennis and sisters Anne and Nellie, sister-in-law Nora, and many nephews and nieces.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mancheski, Dr. Horth, Dr. Parikh, and Father Joe Dominic for their compassion, care, support, and love for Nora. We’d also like to thank Kathleen and Kathy for all the help and love given when taking care of our Mother.
Due to COVID restrictions, a private Christian Mass and burial will be held. All are welcome to view the service at 11:00AM on Friday, March 26, 2021 at wenig.live/NoraSalata .
A gathering to celebrate Nora’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls or designated to a charity of your choice.
