Nancy Jo Foglesong Laarman, age 90, died June 27 at the Sheboygan Senior Community, where she resided the last three years. She previously lived in the Oostburg area. Nancy was born Dec. 5, 1922 in Rockford IL, the daughter of Frederick and Marquise (Patton) Foglesong. She spent most of her childhood in Lansing MI, which she considered her hometown. Following graduation from high school and secretarial school in Lansing, she moved to Greenwich Village in New York City. She met George ("Koby") Laarman in New York, and they married at the Marble Collegiate Church. After World War II, Nancy and George purchased the Laarman family farm, south of Oostburg, where they resided for over 40 years. George died in 1986, and Nancy then lived for several years on Cardinal Lane east of Oostburg and later, in the village. Nancy has three children: Jan (Caroline Amilien) in France, Peter in Los Angeles CA, and Linda in Door County WI. She's also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Nancy's siblings, Fred and Margaret, predeceased her. Nancy worked for many years as a secretary at Sheboygan's St. Nicholas Hospital. She was a member of the First Congregational Church, Sheboygan. Interests included reading, baking, knitting, Scrabble, and Mah Jongg. The staff of the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg is serving the family.
