Muriel “Murt” J. Ledeboer, 94, went home to her Lord on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Pine Haven Christian Communities.

Muriel was born January 23, 1931, in the town of Holland, daughter of Herbert and Gladys (Neerhof) Heinen. She was a 1948 graduate of Cedar Grove High School.

On April 5, 1951, she was united in marriage with Johnie “Garrit” Ledeboer in Cedar Grove. The couple farmed in the town of Wilson, where they raised their children. Over 25 years, they graciously and lovingly opened their home to 11 foster children.

Muriel was a longtime member of First Reformed Church in Oostburg, where she served as president of the Ladies Guild, volunteered as a Sunday School teacher and Superintendent, sang in the choir and participated in Bible Studies and Circles. She belonged to the Pine Haven Auxiliary and Farm Bureau, and proudly hosted 2 Sheboygan County Dairy Breakfasts.

For 33 years, Muriel drove school bus for Otte Bus Service. She volunteered at Meadowview Manor and Sunny Ridge. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, needlework, sewing, tatting, baking, cooking and collecting artifacts. An avid traveler, she and Garrit enjoyed trips to 49 states, Canada and Europe.

Muriel is survived by her children: Kay (Gary) Huenink of Oostburg, Pam (Kim) Simmelink of Sheboygan, Joy (Mark) Dulmes of Holland, MI and Todd Ledeboer of Oostburg; seven grandsons Joshua (Carolyn) Huenink, Jeremy (Nancy) Huenink, Colin Simmelink, Brian (Ceanne) Simmelink, Jay (Sandi) Dulmes, John (Nicole) Dulmes, and Eric (Kate) Dulmes; 18 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Carolee Heinen of Menomonee Falls; brother-in-law Bill (Carol) Ledeboer of Oostburg; 11 special foster children; other extended relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Lois (Harold “Archie”) Soerens, brother Dale Heinen; sisters-in-law Lela (Gerald) VanderPlas, Josie (Gideon) Fuerst; brothers-in-law Ed (Phyllis) Ledeboer and Lloyd (Leona) Ledeboer.

Funeral Services will be held at First Reformed Church in Oostburg on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 4:00pm with Pastor Brian Taylor officiating. The family will receive visitors at Wenig Funeral Home on Friday from 4:00-7:00pm and again at church on Saturday from 3:00pm until the time of service. She will be laid to rest at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
