Miriam Ruth Heideman

Miriam Ruth Heideman, 88, Hingham, a resident of Pine Haven Christian Home, entered her eternal home on Monday, September 18, 2023, while her husband was at her side, holding her hand.

Miriam, daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Dekker) Swart, was born in Hingham on February 18, 1935. She attended Hingham Grade School and graduated from Oostburg High School in 1953.

She was employed in clerical work at American Chair Co in Sheboygan, Die Cast Tecumseh in Sheboygan Falls, and in the dietary department at Pine Haven in Sheboygan Falls.

Miriam married Ralph Heideman on May 13, 1961, and treasured his abiding love, respect, and friendship. They made their home in Hingham and were lifelong members of Hingham Reformed Church.

Miriam appreciated her home and life with Ralph. Together, they enjoyed many “back road” rides and viewed many silhouettes at sundown. Together, they enjoyed gardening and preserving the produce. Miriam enjoyed her flowers, gardening, sewing, and especially crocheting. She was also a 37-year cancer survivor.

The coffee times with friends and neighbors had pleasant memories. Bible Study with the Ladies Mission Circle and helping the Patchwork & Prayers Quilting Mission of the Church were important too.

Miriam is survived by her husband, Ralph; brothers, David (Barbara) Swart of Pine Island, MN, Jerry (Susan) Swart of Sheboygan Falls; sister, Bonnie (John) Peter of Brandon, Florida; sisters-in-law, Carla Swart of Sioux Falls, SD, Joan Swart of Hingham, Mary Heideman of Holland, MI; brother-in-law, Floyd (Margaret) Heideman of Torrance, CA; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Miriam was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, George and Priscilla Heideman; brothers, Phillip Swart, Robert Swart; and brother-in-law, Eugene Heideman.

A memorial service to celebrate Miriam’s life and faith will be held at Hingham Church on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 11:00am with Pastor Barrett Marcantel officiating. A livestream of the service can be found by visiting Miriam’s obituary page at wenigfh.com. Burial will take place at Hingham Cemetery.

Relatives and friends may greet the family at church on Thursday, from 5:00-7:00pm and again on Friday, from 10:00am until the time of service.

A memorial fund will be established for Hingham Church and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.

Special thanks go to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, Pine Haven Christian Home, Hingham Church, and all the nurses and doctors involved with her care.

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever!” Psalm 23:6
