Mildred H. Tempas, 94, of Prairie Crossing Residential Home in Sheboygan Falls and formerly of Cedar Grove died on Monday evening, May 30, 2016 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Mildred was born on March 20, 1922 in the Town of Lima, the daughter of the late Harry and Clara (Dulmes) Rauwerdink. She graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1939 and then attended Sheboygan Business College. On September 14, 1944 she married Burton F. Tempas in Hingham. Burton preceded her in death on June 3, 2015 following 70 years of marriage. Mildred worked at Kresge Co and Jung Shoe Co in Sheboygan, and the Adell Coop. Mildred was a member of the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove where she was active in numerous ministries including, choir, ladies aid, Lay Witness Mission, the prayer group and the church library. Previously she and Burton were active and longtime members at Hingham Reformed Church. Mildred was also an active member of the Gideon's International Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, cooking, sewing, flowers, traveling and visiting shut-ins. Mildred is survived by three daughters, Ginny (John) Stralow of Pella, Iowa, Elaine (Robert) Scholl of Cedar Grove and Laurel (Tad) Carls of Lakeland, FL; one son, Lee (Bonnie) Tempas of Oostburg; nine grandchildren, Ray (Kathy) Stralow, Kim (Robert) Gates, Robert (Julie) and John (Kat) Scholl, Christopher (Tristin) Carls and Lucas (fiancé Rachael) Carls, Amy (Alan) Wilterdink, Joel Tempas and Jody (Joe) Austreng; 16 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; one sister, Lillian Grotenhuis of Cedar Grove; and three sisters-in-law, Joyce Rauwerdink of Oostburg, Avis Tempas of Arizona and Betty Buehler of Plymouth. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, one brother, Gilbert Rauwerdink; and one brother-in-law, Milford Grotenhuis. A memorial service to celebrate Mildred's life will take place on June 25, 2016 at Noon at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg with the Rev. Kent Vant Hul officiating. Inurnment will take place at Hingham Cemetery in the Town of Lima.
