Mildred Huibregtse

November 30, 1922 — July 2, 2016

Mildred Esther Huibregtse, 93, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away peacefully at Faith Home, Pine Haven Campus, on July 2, 2016 with her family near. Mildred was born on November 30, 1922, daughter of George and Anna (Arpke) Hinz in northern Sheboygan County. She grew up on the family farm in the town of Herman, where she attended country school and completed her education at Mission House. She married Robert Huibregtse on November 17, 1943. After living in Florida while Bob served in the US Coast Guard during WWII, the couple settled in Sheboygan Falls. In addition to being a homemaker to her family, Mildred was an employee of H.C. Prange Company for 16 years. After retirement, Mildred and Bob moved to Eagle River, Wisconsin, where they were active in the local community and enjoyed life in the northwoods for 16 years before returning to live in the Sheboygan area in 1989. Mildred and Bob were able to travel extensively during this time as well, venturing twice to Europe to visit their son Dennis in Belgium, as well visiting Colorado, Alaska and many other places in the country. Mildred and Bob also enjoyed spending winter months in the panhandle of Florida for many years. Through everything, Sheboygan was home and the place she loved the most. She made many friends as a part of the senior community and was a member of Ebenezer Church United Church of Christ. Mildred is survived by her husband of 72 years, Robert Huibregtse of Prairie Crossing, Sheboygan Falls; two sons Dennis (Patricia) Huibregtse of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Gary Huibregtse (Katherine Edelblut) of Fort Collins, Colorado; grandson Robert James Huibregtse, of Fort Collins, Colorado; and her sister, Carol Sanfelippo of Santa Ana, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, George Hinz, Jr, and her two sisters Helen Caywood, and Marilyn Umstadt. Mildred was fond of a quiet life and the simple pleasures found in the company of family and friends. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother who will be forever missed by her family. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 11 am at the Ebenezer United Church of Christ, 3215 Saemann Avenue, Sheboygan with the Rev. Dr. Roger Mealiff officiating.
