Mildred "Mick" J. Hendrikse, 93, of Oostburg died on Sunday, October 30, 2016, at Pine Haven Christian Residential Home in Sheboygan Falls where she had resided for the past five years. Mick was born on November 2, 1922, in the Town of Holland, the daughter of Almond and Ida (Bruggink) Draayers. Mick graduated from Oostburg High School in 1940. On June 28, 1946, she married Donald Hendrikse in Oostburg. Donald preceded her in death following 58 years of marriage. Mick worked for several years in her father's restaurant, The Wooden Shoe in Oostburg. Mick was a dedicated homemaker for her family and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Mick was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Oostburg and the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed sharing time with family and friends at the "Mick Donald's" cottage on Lake Michigan. She enjoyed canning, baking, (especially pear pie), cooking, sewing, and card playing. Mick enjoyed bowling and golf up until age 88. She attended many of her grandchildren's activities. Mick is survived by her daughter, Jane (Robert) Voskuil of Cedar Grove; her two sons, Reg (Nancy) Hendrikse of Oostburg and Tom Hendrikse of Oostburg; six grandchildren, Jon (Sheila) Voskuil, Heather (Matt) Posthuma, Terry (Nicole) Hendrikse, Rebecca (Matt) Rauwerdink, Matt (Mussette) Hendrikse, Jason (Jolene) Hendrikse; 14 great grandchildren, Taylor Voskuil, Griffin, Myles and Gage Posthuma, Madelyn, Mackena, Aiden, and Alecston Hendrikse, Genesis, Malachi, and Selah Rauwerdink, Alyssa (Chris) Goldman, Avianna and Crosby Hendrikse; one step great great grandson, Ethan Goldman; one sister, Norma Brill of Oostburg; and one brother, Donald (Ruth) Draayers of Oostburg. Mick was preceded in death by her husband, twin great grandchildren, Riley and Brooklyn Voskuil, and one brother-in-law, Richard Brill. A funeral service to celebrate Mick's life will take place at the First Presbyterian Church in Oostburg at 2 pm on Thursday, November 3, 2016, with the Rev. Jeff Harmeling officiating. Burial will take place at the Oostburg Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Family and friends will gather at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 from 4-7 pm, and on Thursday, at church from 1-2 pm.
