Michael E. Schaller

Michael E. Schaller passed away at his home in Waldo on Sunday, August 18, 2024. He was 69 years old.

Michael was born February 3, 1955 in Sheboygan, the son of Roman Sr. and Loretta (Mauer) Schaller. He attended Sheboygan Falls High School, graduating in 1973. 

Michael was united in marriage to Tammy Johanning on December 16, 1977 in Sheboygan Falls. 

Mike worked for Sheboygan County in the maintenance department at Lightfoot School in Sheboygan Falls.  

An outdoorsman, Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and spending time up north on Enterprise Lake. A car enthusiast, he loved Mopar cars, especially his Dodge Charger. A skilled woodworker, Mike built countless pieces of furniture that his family will cherish. Mike spent most of his time on his and Tammy’s hobby farm. His widespread handyman skills were useful on the farm and in the house, where he was able to repair and maintain nearly everything. He looked forward to playing his guitar, building and flying r/c airplanes and time spent with his grandkids. 

Mike is survived by his wife Tammy; children Sanya (John) DeBlaey of Elkhart Lake and Justin (Dana) Schaller of Kiel; grandchildren: Crystal Schipper, Hunter DeBlaey and Madelyn and Landen Schaller; brothers: Steve Schaller, Tim Schaller, and David (Lorena) Schaller; sisters: Julie Schmidt, Diane (David) Knaus, Beverly (Wayne) Henke, Sharon (Dale) Peterson, Sue Carpenter, Debbie Lawrence, Pat (Gordon) Rammer and Jackie (Keith) Oppeneer; sisters-in-law Rosemary and Deb Schaller and Jorja (Freddy) Kulow. He is further survived by Mary Jo Knoebel, sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and his beloved cat Snuggles.

 He is preceded in death by his parents Roman Sr. and Loretta; parents-in-law Kenneth Johanning and Florence and Jeff Trowbridge; brothers Jeff, Jim and Roman Schaller Jr.; brothers-in-law Wally Schmidt, Curt Lawrence; nephews Gordon Rammer III, Dusty Knaus and Brian Schmidt and niece Suzanne Carpenter.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, August 23 at Wenig Funeral Home, 711 Broadway in Sheboygan Falls. Chaplain Kevin Spaeth will officiate. Mike will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00AM-1:00PM.

The family would like to thank Dr. Lohr, Dr. Jaslowski and the staffs of Green Bay Oncology, St. Nicholas Hospital, St. Vincent Hospital, Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, especially Bre, and The Gift of Life for their compassionate and loving care over the last year.
