Michael Hengst

Michael L. Hengst, 50, of Glenbeulah and formerly of Oostburg, died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 3, 2011. Michael was born in Sheboygan on March 7, 1960, the son of Marvin and Carol (Simmelink) Hengst. Mike graduated from Oostburg High School in 1978 and received his CNA Certification from Lakeshore Technical College. He was a self employed painter. Mike had an appreciation for nature and the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, landscaping, music, spending time with his dog, and watching sports. Some of Mike's greatest accomplishments and sources of pride were his two children. He is survived by a daughter, Amanda Hengst of Sheboygan; a son, Jeremy (friend Amanda) Hengst of Milwaukee; his parents, Marvin "Mucks" and Carol Hengst of Oostburg; one sister, Terri (Tedd) Mentink of Oostburg; three brothers, Dean (LeAnne) Hengst of Grafton, Jay (Terri) Hengst and Jamey (Stephanie) Hengst, both of Oostburg; nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins. He is also survived by dear friends Maria (Larry Voechting) Martin and Josh Martin. A memorial service will be held at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at 11 am with the Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Friends may greet the family at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Monday from 3-8 pm, and on Tuesday, at church, from 10 am until the time of the service at 11 am.
