Mary Ellen Walford, 78, of Gibbsville, entered into her final reward while surrounded by family on Monday, September 20, 2021, at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center.
Mary Ellen was born on October 12, 1942 to Harley and Evelyn (DeMaster) Scholten in Sheboygan Falls. She graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1961. She was united in marriage to Arlyn J. Walford on September 1, 1962 at Gibbsville Reformed Church. Mary Ellen was employed as the custodian at Gibbsville Reformed Church for more than 30 years. She was also employed at the Gibbsville Cheese Factory and Pine Haven Christian Home.
Mary Ellen was a member of Gibbsville Reformed Church, where she was a part of Bethany Circle, library committee, and a RCYF sponsor with Arlyn. She was also a Cub Scout Den Mother while her sons were in cub scouts. She enjoyed traveling, a highlight being her and Arlyn’s 50th anniversary family cruise to Alaska. Mary Ellen was a talented cook and baker; known for her pies. She loved baking with her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her Club friends. Mary Ellen enjoyed going to craft fairs, shopping and was an avid reader.
Mary Ellen is survived by her husband of 59 years, Arlyn; sons, Randy (Lynn) Walford of Oostburg; Kyle (Jessica) Walford of Hingham; grandchildren, Jasmine (Shawn) Verbrigghe of Marquette, MI, Alex (Alyssa) Walford of Hingham, Savannah Jane (Riley Printz) Walford of Hingham, Chloe Walford of Hingham; one great-grandchild on the way. She is further survived by her brother, John (Beverly) Scholten; brother-in-law, Donald Linnerud; sister-in-law, Grace Scholten; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Mary Ellen is preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Caroll and Cora Walford; sisters, Audrey Linnerud, Trudy Pax Reisinger; and brother, Paul Scholten.
A funeral service for Mary Ellen will be held at Gibbsville Church on Friday, September 24, 2021, at 11:00 am with Rev. Dan Haggar officiating. If unable to attend, all are welcome to join via livestream by visiting wenig.live/MaryEllenWalford . Burial will take place at Gibbsville Cemetery immediately following the service.
Relatives and friends may greet the family at church on Thursday, September 23rd from 3:00 to 7:00 pm and again on Friday, September 24th from 10:00 am until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established in Mary Ellen’s name.
