Mary Lou Klug

Mary Lou (VerVelde) Klug, 72, of Oostburg, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus with her daughters at her side, on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at her home.

Mary was born to George and Dorothy (Soerens) VerVelde on August 12, 1950, in Sheboygan. She attended Oostburg High School with the class of 1969. Mary was united in marriage to David Klug on June 28, 1969, in Dacada.

She was employed seasonally in summers at the canning factory for many years. Mary later worked at Production Plastics as a line worker and in quality control for 25 years until her retirement.

In her younger years, Mary was an avid reader, and enjoyed cross stitching and crocheting.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Sarah Klug of Oostburg, and Kathy (Jeff) Krueger of Sheboygan; grandchildren, Cody (Amy) May, Alex May, and Lucas (Lexi Dutton) May; great-grandchild, Fredrik. She is further survived by her siblings, Allan (Althea) VerVelde, Richard (Shirley) VerVelde, Donna (Bob) Caljouw; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, David, and her parents.

A memorial service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held at Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Friday, July 28, 2023, at 5:00pm.

Relatives and friends may greet the family at the funeral home from 3:00pm until the time of service.

A memorial is being established in her name.
