Mary Ann Erickson, 81, of Kohler, died on Thursday, January 15, 2015. Mary Ann was born on May 8, 1933, in Chippewa Falls, daughter of Edwin and Anna (Sokup) Rieman. She was a 1951 graduate of Chippewa Falls McDonald High School, received her Bachelor's degree from UW-Eau Claire and completed graduate work at UW-Oshkosh. On March 12, 1955, she married Bruce E. Erickson in Chippewa Falls. Mary Ann started her teaching career at Notre Dame Elementary School in Chippewa Falls and then was a teacher for 14 years at Kohler Public Schools. Mary was a member of St. John Evangelist Catholic Church in Kohler for 49 years. She was a member of the Kohler Women's Club, a Scout leader, and actively supported numerous charities. Mary Ann enjoyed cooking, playing bridge, reading, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren and grand-dogs. She especially loved spending time with family and friends at the Green House in Grand Marais, MI. Mary is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bruce; her two daughters, Jean (Nick) Zanoni of Whitefish Bay and Beth (George Chemers) Erickson of Highland Park, IL; her two sons, Joseph Erickson of Katy, TX and Thomas (Daphne) Erickson of Whitefish Bay; Mary Nelson of Shorewood; eight grandchildren, Christopher (Emily) Zanoni, Natalie (Jen Andrzejewski) Zanoni, Teddy Chemers, Rachel, Siena, and Dane Erickson, and Charles and John Erickson. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Rita (Ray) Mayer, her infant brother, and her daughter-in-law, Cindy Erickson. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Mary Ann's life will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, January 19, 2015, at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church with Rev. Bob Lotz officiating. Burial will take place at Woodland Cemetery in Kohler. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 9:00 am until the time of Mass at noon. A memorial fund has been established in Mary Ann's name for the Kohler School Foundation, St Rose Center for at-risk girls, and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
