Mary Ellen F. Born, 82, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2016, at the Pine Haven Residential Home. Mary Ellen was born on July 22, 1933 in Sheboygan to Robert and Elenor (Mohr) Friedrichs. Mary Ellen attended St. Paul and Immanuel Lutheran Schools and was a 1951 graduate of Central High School. On August 23, 1958, she married Ronald A. Born in Sheboygan. He preceded her in death on November 14, 2005. Mary Ellen was the church organist for St. Paul Lutheran Church for 47 years until her retirement in 2008. Mary Ellen was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls where she served as the church organist and accompanied the church choir. She was also a substitute organist for many churches throughout Sheboygan County, played for many weddings, funerals and was the full time organist for Wenig Funeral Home. Throughout the years Mary Ellen was a Campfire Girls Leader, a member of the Sheboygan Concert Association and Sheboygan Music Club. She enjoyed playing softball and her Wednesday night bowling league. Mary Ellen was a diehard Packer, Badger and Brewer Fan. Some of her fondest memories were her trips to New York, California and New Orleans with Carolyn Deeley and attending the Milwaukee Symphony and Ballet with Janet Huehns. Most of all Mary Ellen loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and attending their activities. Mary Ellen is survived by her daughter, Karen Born-Cafaro of Cedar Knolls, NJ; her son William (Jean) Born of Sheboygan Falls; four grandchildren, Rayne and Kia Cafaro, and Brandon ( fiancé Ashley) and Brianna Born; one brother, Paul (Jean) Friedrichs; one brother-in-law, Robert (Nancy) Born and one sister-in-law, Marian Friedrichs. Mary Ellen is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Ronald; her parents; two brothers, Robert (Ione) and Tom Friedrichs and one nephew, Michael Friedrichs. Funeral services to celebrate Mary Ellen's life will be held at 5:00 pm on Friday, April 8, 2016, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Tom Gudmundson and Rev. Donald Hasse officiating. Burial will take place at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Relatives and friends may gather at the church on Friday, April 8, 2016 from 2:00 pm until the time of the service at 5:00 pm. A memorial fund has been established in Mary Ellen's name for the St. Paul Lutheran Preschool and hand bell choir. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Pine Haven Rehab, Pine Haven Assisted Living and St. Nicholas Hospice for all of the care and compassion that they gave to Mary Ellen.
