Marvin Niemuth

Marvin Niemuth, 77, of Sheboygan died on Friday, January 3, 2014 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice where he had resided for the past week. Marvin was born on September 26, 1936, the son of Henry F. and Marion (Pecnik) Niemuth. Marvin attended Sheboygan Falls High School and joined the US Navy after his junior year. He served in the US Navy from 1953-57 and then served in the US Army Reserves. He married Arnetta Wilms in 1957 in Hutchison, Kansas. Together they had four children. On September 8, 1972 he married Ruth Leonhardt in Sheboygan. Marvin was a carpenter for over 30 years, having been self-employed and for Lee Realty and the local union. Marvin also operated their family business for several years, Niemuth Shoe Store in Sheboygan Falls and Niemuth Clothing and Shoes in Plymouth. Marvin was a member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ in Sheboygan and the local carpenter union. He enjoyed bowling, reading, history, movies, golf, travel and collecting coins. Marvin is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ruth; one daughter, Sharon (Greg) Powel of Moweaqua, IL; two sons, Terry (Sophie) Niemuth of Malaysia and Michael Niemuth of Moweaqua, IL; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Darlene Polster of Sheboygan Falls and Dorothy (John) Kimme of Sheboygan Falls; two brothers, Alfred Niemuth of Plymouth and Larry (Joan Fuhrmann) Niemuth of Kiel; a sister-in-law, Jean (Ron) Long of Sheboygan; and two brothers-in-law, Brian (Rosie) Leonhardt and Jim (Vicki) Leonhardt, both of Sheboygan. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and dear friends, Jim and Betty Fischer and their daughter, Wendy of Sheboygan. Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Gary Niemuth; a grandson, Michael Niemuth; two brothers, Henry Jr and Donald (Mary) Niemuth; one brother-in-law, Harry Polster; and one sister-in-law Loanne Niemuth; his parents-in-law, Henry and Maude Leonhardt; and a nephew, Curt Leonhardt. A service to celebrate Marvin's life will take place at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls at Noon on Saturday, January 11, 2014 with the Pastor Dan Krueger officiating. Family and friends will gather at the Wenig Funeral Home on Saturday from 10 am until the time of the service at Noon. The Niemuth family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staffs of Dr. Kumar and the Lombardi Cancer Clinic and the Sharon S.
