Marvin K. Duenk, 83, a lifetime resident of Cedar Grove died Monday night, August 21, 2006 at Sunny Ridge Nursing Home where he had resided for the past three years. Marvin was born on November 4, 1922 in Cedar Grove, the son of the late John and Cynthia (Konings) Duenk. Marvin graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1941. On October 22, 1955 he married the former Rose Wissink in Cedar Grove. Earlier on in his life he had worked for the Cedar Grove Hardware Store. Marvin was self employed as a printer owning Standard Printing Co. in Cedar Grove for over 35 years before his retirement in 1985. He and his wife also owned the Upper Room Christian Bookstore in Cedar Grove for 25 years. Marvin was a lifelong member of the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove. He was also a charter member of the Cedar Grove Booster Club, a member of the Christian Booksellers Assoc, the Holland Guild, and an active community volunteer. Marvin was a graphic artist and was a talented painter and sign painter. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, traveling, music, and played the steel guitar. He is survived by his wife, Rose; daughter, Nancy (Daniel) Niesing of Sheboygan Falls; a son, Dr. Larry (Patti) Duenk of Cedar Grove; four grandchildren, Jessica and Kimberly Niesing, Sarah and Michael Duenk; one brother, Lester Duenk of Blacksburg, VA; and one sister-in-law, Lillian Wissink of Cedar Grove. Marvin was preceded in death by an infant brother, Clifford Duenk; two sisters-in-law, Genevieve Duenk and Evelyn Wissink; and one brother-in-law, Douglas Wissink. Funeral services will be held at the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove on Friday, August 25, 2006 at 10:30 am with the Rev. Kent Vant Hul officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Friends may greet the family at the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove on Thursday, from 4-8 pm, and on Friday from 9:30 until the time of service.
