Marlene A. Martin, 73, formerly of the Random Lake area, died on Saturday night, September 29, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Sheboygan where she resided for the past two years. Marlene was born on April 3, 1939 in Mineral Point, WI, the daughter of the late Walter James and Lillian Ruth (Quirk) Richards. Marlene graduated from South Milwaukee High School in 1957. On November 12, 1960 she married the late Lee N. Martin in Dubuque, Iowa. Lee preceded her in death on August 11, 2011. Marlene had a special love for children. In her early life she was a nursery volunteer at an Episcopal Church in Milwaukee. She was a childcare worker for over 20 years and owned the Kiddie Korral in Waubeka. Marlene also owned Archie's Place Tavern in Little Kohler from 1980-84. Lee and Marlene owned and operated the Olde Schoolhouse Auction Service for many years. Marlene enjoyed music. Some of her favorite songs were "Give Me A Rose" by Kenny Rogers and "Animal Crackers in My Soup" by Shirley Temple. She also was a fan of Elvis and Johnny Cash. Marlene was also a devoted fan of the Green Bay Packers, Mike Holmgren, and Brett Favre. She also enjoyed dogs, bowling, cooking, baking and shopping. Her grandchildren were very dear to her. Marlene is survived by two daughters, Kim (Brent) Evanenko and Sandy Martin, both of Sheboygan; five grandchildren, Amanda Kimball, Jennifer Fulks, Sara, Mitchell and Maggie Martin; five great grandchildren, Mackenzie Casper, Tristan Kimball, Michael, Carter, and Lucas Fulks; two sisters-in-law, Alice (Larry) Boe of Brookfield and Linda Remington of Clintonville; one brother-in-law, Bill Powell of Dodgeville. Marlene is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lee; an infant son, Joseph Martin; one sister, Betty Powell; two brothers-in-law, Herbert (Nancy) Sliwicki and Darryl Remington; and her parents-in-law, Lloyd and Blanche Kisling. A celebration of Marlene's life will take place at a funeral service to be held at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 12:30 pm with Pastor Andy Shanholtz officiating. Family and friends will gather at the Wenig Funeral Home on Tuesday from 11 am until the time of the service at 12:30 pm.
