Marjorie Tenpas

Marjorie Tenpas, 96, a resident of Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2016. Marjorie was born on December 26, 1919 in the Town of Holland, the daughter of Lewis and Nellie (Schreurs) LeMahieu. Marjorie attended River Valley School in Town Holland. On September 22, 1939 she married Gordon Tenpas. He preceded her in death in January of 1998. Marjorie and Gordon lived in Cedar Grove until 1944 when they moved to a farm near Hingham, where they farmed until 1966. After farming, she was employed part time for several years at the Larson Company in Waldo. In 1994, she became a resident of Pine Haven. Marjorie was a member of Hingham Reformed Church where she taught Bible Class and Sunday school and was a member of the Ladies Missionary Society. For many years she was a member of the Hingham Homemakers, Hingham Hobby Club and Wisconsin Air Force Academy Parents Association. She and Gordon were able to make a number of trips to visit their children over the years, traveling to the east coast, Colorado, Arizona and England. Marjorie is survived by her two daughters, Charlotte Baumann of Oostburg and LuAnn (Corey) Lee of Neenah; three sons, Neil (Susan) Tenpas of MI, Gary (Mary) Tenpas of FL and Lowell (Leny) Tenpas of OH; 12 grandchildren, Ann (Brian) Daane, Dawn (Rob) Blok, Theresa (Jordan) Herron, Nicole (Brian) Miller, Christopher (Janey) Tenpas, Lisa (Tom) Scaffidi, Sara (Mike) Poos, Matthew (Kelly) Lee, Marisa (Nicholas) Allen, Jared (Annie) Tenpas, Hannah Tenpas and Daniel Tenpas ; and 20 great grandchildren, Aaron (Nicole) Daane, Kenneth and Caryn Daane, Alex and Jordan Blok, Ivy, Amelia and Elijah Tenpas, Kai and Arbor Miller, Lois Tenpas, Catherine (Mario) Munoz, Claire and Elise Poos, Corey and Madelyn Lee, Naomi and Natalie Allen, Riley and Mason Tenpas; 5 great-great grandchildren, Mason, Calvin and Benson Daane and Marcelo and Sofia Munoz; one sister-in-law, Lucile LeMahieu of Cedar Grove. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Gordon of 59 years, sister, Jeanne Brandstetter, brother, Norman LeMahieu and a son-in-law, Philip Baumann. A funeral service to celebrate Marjorie's life will be held on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 11am at Hingham Reformed Church with Rev. Steven Bakker officiating. Burial will be in Hingham Cemetery. Relatives and friends may gather at Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 5-7pm and again on Friday, January 15, 2016 at the church from 9:30am until the time of service at 11am.
