Marjorie Daane, 87, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025 surrounded by family at Pine Haven Assisted Living – Oostburg.
She was born on August 8, 1937 to Martin and Esther (Haartman) VanStelle. She graduated from Oostburg High School in 1955. On September 27, 1986 she was united in marriage to David Daane in which they spent 29 years together before his death in 2015.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Oostburg and a proud member of the first graduating class of Oostburg Christian School. Marjorie was a volunteer at the Oostburg Historical Society, Church Library, and the Friendship Club, where they knew her as the “cookie lady”. She was employed at “Kool Kitchen” now known as FerrellGas and later the family hardware store where she did the books. She enjoyed gardening and traveling with her husband. She also cherished the time spent with family especially at the Lake Michigan cottage.
Marjorie is survived by her loving children; Sarah (Richard) Lutze of Kiel, Peter John Daane of Chicago, daughter-in-law; Tammy Daane of Oostburg; grandchildren, Tyler (Amanda), Lucas (Loraine), Sawyer (Courtney), and Samuel Daane, David (Megan) and Matthew (Amber) Lutze; great-grandchildren, Clayton LaFave, Makayla, Peter, Brooks, Lyla, Walker Daane, Landin Wakefield, Daphne, Clara and Henry Lutze; sisters, Yvonne (Calvin) Wynveen, Helen Buteyn, and brother-in-law, Peter (Ramona) Daane of Oostburg. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other dear relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, parents-in-law, Peter M. and Marion (Williams) Daane; son, David Todd Daane; great-granddaughter, Iva Mae Daane; sister, Virginia (Jim) De Pagter and brother-in-law, Neal Buteyn.
Funeral services to celebrate Marjorie’s life will be held at 12pm on Saturday January 18, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church, 118 South 8th St, Oostburg, WI with Pastor Brett Daane officiating. She will be laid to rest with David at Oostburg Cemetery in the Town of Holland.
Relatives and friends may greet the family at the church from 10:00am until the time of the service.
Memorial donations can be made in Marjorie’s name to First Presbyterian Church of Oostburg.
The family would like to thank the staff of Pine Haven for their care and compassion. A special thanks to Anne Buteyn and Kathy Hilbelink for their many visits, and to the community for their care of Marjorie after David’s passing.
