Marion Saunders passed away peacefully Sunday morning, January 24, 2021 at Pine Haven after a long, courageous battle with dementia. She was 88 years old. Marion was born August 3, 1932 in Dalton, the daughter of Dwight and Augusta Brown. She graduated from Markesan High School in 1950. On July 1, 1951, she was united in marriage with Philip Saunders at First Presbyterian Church in Cambria. The couple lived in Fond du Lac and Plymouth before moving to Sheboygan in 1957. The couple started Superior Landscaping in 1971, and opened Superior Lawn and Garden in 1977. The couple ran the business until Philip's death in 1984. Marion continued running the business with her son Steve until her retirement in the late 1980's, when Steve took over full ownership. When her children were growing up Marion loved volunteering with their schooling and activities. Over the years, she served as a Den Mother, volunteer school nurse, girl scout leader, and lunch lady. After her retirement, she continued volunteering for Meals on Wheels for over 20 years, VNA for 10 years, and as the "Plant Lady" at Ametek for 15 years. She was passionate about gardening and flowers, and took great pride in her home garden. Marion was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sheboygan for over 60 years, where she served as an Elder, Deacon and taught Sunday school. Marion is survived by her children: Steve Saunders of Bend, OR, Gale "Izzy" Saunders of Fall River, WI, Linda (the late James )Jarr of Scottsdale, AZ and Richard (Becky) Saunders of Otis, OR. She is further survived by 7 grandchildren: Brooke (Tim) Saunders Peterson, Nicole Jarr, Derek Jarr Heather Saunders, Amber Saunders, Steve (Emily) Saunders and Sarah Saunders; great-grandchildren Chase Jarr, Jack Jarr, Kashton Jarr and Brooke Sandovol; sister-in-law Mary Jane (Joel) Winter of Cambria, WI; brothers-in-law Frank (Barb) Saunders of Malone and James Saunders of Lodi; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Philip, son Scott, 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Due to COVID, a private family memorial service will be held. Marion will be laid to rest at Sunrise Memorial Gardens beside Philip. The family would like to offer a sincere thank you to Pine Haven, Sharon S.
