Marion D. Claerbaut, 98, formerly of Oostburg, passed away on Friday morning, September 10, 2010 at Pine Haven Residential in Sheboygan Falls where she had resided for the past four years. Marion was born in the Town of Lima on March 28, 1912, daughter of Benjamin and Anna (TenPas) Heinen. On December 18, 1935 she married Roland Claerbaut at her parent's home in the Town of Lima. Roland preceded her in death on January 28, 2006 after 70 years of marriage. Marion was the oldest living member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove and was a former member of the Dorcas Society. She was also a member of the Lakeview Homemakers Club. Marion enjoyed fabric painting, gardening, crocheting, baking, and playing games with her grandchildren. Marion is survived by one daughter, Marjorie (Ronald) Bruggink of Gibbsville; one son, Robert (Audrey) Claerbaut of Oostburg; 13 grandchildren, Kevin (Lauri) Claerbaut, Curtis (Val) Claerbaut, Karen Claerbaut, Bill Bruggink, Bradley Bruggink, Brian (Robin) Bruggink, Brenda (Tim) Griepentrog, Bruce Bruggink, Cindy (Kevin) Walvoord, Julie (Randall) Klynsma, Bruce (Tamara) TenHaken, Paul TenHaken, Jennifer (Patrick) Tienor; 28 great grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn (Allen) DeBlaey of Random Lake; two sisters-in-law, June Claerbaut of Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls and Margaret Heinen of Oostburg. Marion was preceded in death by her husband Roland, a daughter, Muriel (LaMont) TenHaken; two sisters, Mildred (Harry) Hoitink and Cynthia (Harold) Hopeman; three brothers, Earl, Ellsworth, and Edward (Genevieve) Heinen; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Heinen. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Calvary OPC with the Rev. Ronald Beabout officiating. A family service will precede in the choir room at 1:15 pm. Burial will take place at Oostburg Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Relatives and friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Monday from 4-7 pm, and on Tuesday, at church from 12:30 pm until the time of the service. A memorial fund has been established in Marion's name for Calvary OPC and Pine Haven Christian Home.
