Marilyn J. Brill, 87, of Oostburg, went home to her Lord on Thursday morning, December 10, 2015 at the Cedar Grove Gardens where she had resided for the past month. Marilyn was born on June 8, 1928, in the Town of Holland, daughter of Bernard and Beatrice (Dirkse) DuMez. She was a 1946 graduate of Oostburg High School and went to teachers college at Calvin College for two years. Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. Previously she was a teacher at Oostburg Christian School from 1948-1953. She also worked as a personal shopper for H.C. Prange. On June 5, 1953, she married Keith D. Brill in Oostburg. Marilyn was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oostburg, where she was active as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the choir, elder, youth leader, building committee member, and in the Women's Ministries. She was an active church and community volunteer. She was a member of the Lightfoot School board, the American Legion Auxiliary, Oostburg Historical Society, and was an Oostburg Public School health room volunteer. Marilyn enjoyed genealogy and civic history, traveling, music, word puzzles, and reading. Marilyn is survived by her husband of 62 years, Keith; her daughter, Nancy (Terry) Katsma of Oostburg; her four sons, James (Shelly) Brill of Colorado Springs, Timothy (Julie), Stephen (Gail), and Thomas (Kim) Brill, all of Oostburg; 15 grandchildren, Theodore (Rachel) Katsma, Angela Katsma, Allison (Jon) Van Dyk, Betsy (Theron) Heimstra, Karri Brill, Ryan (Samantha) Brill, Shaun (Morgan) Brill, Janae Brill, Adam (Megan) Brill, Amanda (Eric) Bollar, Evan Brill, Derek Brill, Jacob Brill, Megan Brill, and Isaac Brill; 14 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jane (Duane) LeBreck of Oostburg and Sue (Art) Dulmes of Sheboygan Falls; two brothers, L. Don (Mary Lou) DuMez of Oostburg and Michael (Jean) DuMez of Oostburg; and a sister-in-law, Yvonne DuMez of Oostburg. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter, Stacie Brill, and her brother, Duane DuMez. Funeral services to celebrate Marilyn's life will be held at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church in Oostburg with Rev. Brian Jacobson officiating. Burial will take place at Union Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Relatives and friends may gather at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Tuesday from 3:30-8 pm, and on Wednesday, at church from 12:30 pm until the time of the service at 1:30 pm. A memorial fund has been established in Marilyn's name for First Presbyterian Church, Pine Haven Christian Ministries, Cedar Grove Gardens, and Campus Life.
