Marie M. Mulder, age 86, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, April 3, 2023 at Pine Haven Faith Home where she was as a patient of Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls.
Marie was born on May 22, 1936 to Julius & Margaret Peichl. She was a baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls. She attended Prange School in the Town of Sheboygan Falls and subsequently attended Plymouth High School and later earned her GED certificate.
Marie married Leo R. Mulder on May 29, 1954. Marie and Leo purchased and moved to their farm just outside of Sheboygan Falls in October 1958. Marie, with her being raised on a farm, greatly assisted in supporting the farm operation while Leo worked in his full-time day factory job at Kohler Company. In her valued homemaker role, she always willingly provided for her family and met their wide-ranging needs, grew a large garden with rows and rows of a large variety of vegetables that she canned for her family with her mother as her partner. Marie also worked outside the home at Paper Box, Co. and Kohler Co., and seasonal jobs at Walgreens Restaurant and Larson Canning Company. Marie was a lifetime caregiver and took great pride in serving the health care needs of her husband, mother and mother-in-law over extended periods of time.
After their marriage, Marie became an active member of First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls, serving as a Substitute Sunday School Teacher and also on the Funeral Committee in serving Church families with lunches after funerals.
Marie lived in the family residence after Leo passed in 1992 until 2004 at which time, she moved to her Mapledale condo she adored in the Town of Sheboygan. After some time, Marie met in her words “ a good male friend and companion” in Vern Swoboda. They shared many mutual interests for many years that included many short distance trips, watching comedies and game shows on TV (Wheel of Fortune, Everybody Loves Raymond, and Golden Girls….). Among Marie’s interests included daily Word Search, daily Regis & Kathy Lee, puzzles, Card Club, Birthday Club, Women’s Bowling League, Trips with her sister-in-law Helen and many other close friends. She also enjoyed attending school and sport events for her grandchildren.
She lived in her condo until 2016 when she transferred to Pine Have Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls for health reasons.
Marie is survived by her three children: - David (Nancy VanWyk) Mulder, Richard (Donna Worm) Mulder, Karen (Tom) Schneider. Six Grandchildren: – Jennifer (Eric) Johnston, Kristin Mulder, Joseph (Jessica) Mulder, Lauren (Lucas) Baumann, Evan (Hannah) Mulder, Kelly (Deven) Schei. 12 Great grandchildren – Campbell and Quinn Johnston; Breckin, Dax, and Kenley Mortenson; Stella, Lucy, and Maverick Mulder; Dietrich and Ezra Baumann; Reagan and Valor Schei. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Marie is proceeded in death by her husband Leo Mulder, her sister/brother-in-law Elsie (Lester) Voigt, her brother/sister-in-law Arthur (Helen) Peichl, her nephews Robert Voigt and John Peichl, her niece Julie Peichl.
A Christian Funeral Service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, April 8, 2023 at First Reformed Church, 527 Giddings Ave. in Sheboygan Falls. All are welcome to view a livestream of the funeral on Marie’s obituary page at www.wenigfh.com . The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 9:00-11:00AM
Marie will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park beside Leo at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice and Wisconsin Parkinson Association.
The family extends our sincere thank you to caregivers at Pine Haven Christian and Faith Home, and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice staff for their excellent and compassionate care.
