Marie Berenschot

December 9, 1921 — March 18, 2014

Marie Berenschot, 92, formerly of Cedar Grove and Oostburg passed into glory on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at Azura Memory Care in Sheboygan. Marie was born on December 9, 1921, in the Town of Lima, daughter of Janes and Annie (Lammers) Daane. She attended Banner School and was a 1939 graduate of Waldo High School. Following graduation she worked at the Phoenix Chair Co. in Sheboygan for several years. On July 26, 1946, she married Orlon W. Berenschot in Hingham. Orlon passed away on May 23, 2003. Marie will be fondly remembered as one who loved the Lord Jesus with all of her heart. Marie was a member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove, where she was active in various ladies groups and the Dorcas Society. Marie and Orlon enjoyed traveling to national parks and spending winters in Winterhaven, Florida. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, gardening, genealogy, family reunions, camping, playing cards, crocheting, quilting for her children and grandchildren, and especially attending her grandchildren's activities. Marie is survived by her daughter, Jane (Randy) Headley of Columbia, SC; her son, Mark (Virginia) Berenschot of Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Kristin Berenschot, Lisa Berenschot, Ian (Laurin) Headley, and Shannon (Mason) Cloy; three great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Jack, and Libby Headley; one brother, Earl Daane of Florida; and a sister-in-law, Marjorie (Lloyd) TenPas of Sheboygan. Marie was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Orlon; one grandson, John Dale Headley; two brothers, Harold (Korene) Daane and Walter (Joy) Daane; and two sisters, Ruth (Erwin) TenPas and Mildred (Henry) TeWinkle. Funeral services to celebrate Marie's life will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Calvary OPC in Cedar Grove with Rev. Ronald Beabout officiating. Burial will take place in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 9 am until the time of the service e at 10:30 am. A memorial fund has been established in Marie's name for Pine Haven Christian Communities and Covenant Christian School in Columbia, SC.
