Marian Tempas

Marian E. Tempas, 93, formerly of Hingham passed away on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at the Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls. Marian was born on May 9, 1922, in the Town of Holland, daughter of Walter and Alice (Faas) Mentink. She was a 1941 graduate of Cedar Grove High School. On March 19, 1948, she married John Paul Tempas in Cedar Grove. Paul passed away on October 17, 2003. Marian and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Lima for over 54 years. Marian was a member of Hingham Reformed Church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #345. Marian enjoyed gardening, baking desserts, playing cards, time with her friends at "Club", and helping other people whenever she could. Marion also enjoyed the hymn sings at Pine Haven, and watching the Gaithers and Lawrence Welk on television. Marian is survived by her three daughters, Ann (Dan) Kaat of Madison, Mary (Roland) Rauwerdink of Oostburg, and Sue (John) Arentsen of Oostburg; her son, David (Heather) Tempas of Sheboygan; six grandchildren, Jamie Rauwerdink, Matthew (Rebecca) Rauwerdink, Nathan (friend Kris) and Elizabeth Arentsen, and Madelaine and Michaela Tempas; three great grandchildren, Genesis and Malachi Rauwerdink and Mason Mireles; one sister, Beatrice VanEss of Plymouth; one brother, Lloyd Mentink of Sheboygan Falls; and one brother-in-law, Lloyd VanEss of Oostburg. Marian was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Paul, and her sister, Doris VanEss. Funeral services to celebrate Marian's life will be held at 11 am on Friday, March 11, 2016 at Hingham Reformed Church with Rev. Steven Bakker officiating. Burial will take place at Hingham Cemetery in the Town of Lima. Relatives and friends may gather at the church on Friday from 9 am until the time of the service at 11 am. A memorial fund has been established in Marian's name for Pine Haven Christian Communities and the Hingham Reformed Church.
