Marian "Mary" E. Heinen, 79, of Oostburg, died on Monday afternoon, February 3, 2014, at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center, where she had resided for the past two years. Mary was born on November 24, 1934, in New Holstein, the daughter of the late Frank and Cora (Cevaal) Ringel. She attended Sheboygan Central High School. On June 18, 1954, she married Eugene A. Heinen at the First Christian Reformed Church in Sheboygan. Mary embraced the role God gave her as wife, mother, and homemaker, and that was her highest calling. She also worked at Stroub Pharmacy in Sheboygan Falls...a job where she made many friends and was friendly and kind to all. In her later years Mary worked as a Mary Kay consultant. Mary also enjoyed flower gardening, baking, and spending time doing crafts and other activities with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Mary was a member of the Gibbsville Reformed Church and the Bethany Circle. Mary is survived by her husband of 59 years, Eugene; three daughters, Sue Lensink of Oostburg, Mary (Randy) Brill of Hingham, and Patti (David) Vander Ploeg of Green Bay; two sons, Steve Heinen of Oostburg and Michael (Kaye) Heinen of Waldo; nine grandchildren, Aaron (Angela) Lensink, Andrew (Katie) Lensink, Eric (Lindee) Brill, Jason (Andrea) Brill, Kevin (Ashley) Brill, Michael (Hope) Vander Ploeg, Stephanie Vander Ploeg, Brett Vander Ploeg, and Ashley (Brad) Hansen; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Toni Barthels of Kohler, Betty (Frank) Konz of Sheboygan, and Joyce (Carl) Meggers of Sheboygan; two brothers, Donald (Audrey) Ringel and Ken (Kathy) Ringel, both of Sheboygan; one sister-in-law, Romilda Heinen of Kiel; and one brother-in-law, Harold (Arleen) Heinen of Reno, NV. Mary is also survived by a "special little sister", Helen Veldhorst of Oostburg. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Paul Lensink; two sisters, Charlotte Ringel and Caroline (Joe) Vrubley; one brother, Richard Ringel; one sister-in-law, Eunice Lewis; and two brothers-in-law, Fred Barthels and Rueben Heinen. A funeral to celebrate Mary's life will be held at the Gibbsville Reformed Church at 10:30 am on Friday, February 7, 2014, with Rev. John Ornee officiating. A family service will precede in the choir room at 10:15 am. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Family and friends will gather at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Thursday from 4-7 pm and at church on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of the service.
