Margaret Smith

Margaret Smith, 90, of Oostburg, died at her home on Saturday, June 18, 2016. Margaret was born on June 2, 1926 in Blaydon-Upon-Tyne, England, the daughter of Alfred and Florence Ann (Watson) Elliott. She attended schools in England. On July 9, 1949 she married Matthew Smith in Blaydon-Upon-Tyne, England. Matthew preceded her in death on October 20, 2000 following 51 years of marriage. Margaret enjoyed cooking, knitting, flowers, reading, traveling, and collecting teddy bears. She is survived by two sons, Matthew (Fiancé Ann) Smith of Sheboygan and Stephen (Vicki) Smith of Oostburg; three grandchildren, Jessica (Michael) Steinke, Benjamin (Fiancé Lisa) Smith, Elliott (friend Heather) Smith; three great-grandchildren, Jamie, Audrey, and Lexie; and one sister, Nancy Wood of England. Margaret is also survived by her former daughter-in-law, Diane Smith of Oak Creek. She was preceded in death by her husband, one sister and one brother. A funeral to celebrate Margaret's life will take place at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Sunday, June 26, 2016 at 2 pm with Rev. Toby Thomack officiating. Burial will follow at Oostburg Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Family and friends may gather at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Sunday from 1-2 pm.
