Margaret Hesselink

Margaret A. Hesselink, 83, of Oostburg died on Saturday morning, May 10, 2014, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center. Margaret was born on January 11, 1931, in the Town of Lima, the daughter of George and Cynthia (TerMaat) Lukens. She attended Oostburg High School. Margaret married Ronald Hesselink on July 7, 1950 in the Town of Holland. Margaret was a devoted homemaker and worked briefly at Musebeck Shoe Co. and the Oostburg Bakery. Margaret was a member of the First Reformed Church in Oostburg and participated in the Women's Society, Mission Circle and sang in the choir. She was a 20 year volunteer at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital and enjoyed golf, playing cards, cooking and traveling. She was an avid Green Bay Packer and Milwaukee Brewer fan. Margaret is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ronald; one daughter Mary "Mame" (Roger) Oonk of Oostburg; one son, Gary (Carol) Hesselink of Oostburg; five grandchildren, Jeff (Tricia) Oonk, Ryan (Amanda) Oonk, Eric Hesselink, Tannie (Tyler) Holschbach, and Jenna (Wesley) Thompson, seven great grandchildren; one sister, Arlene Robinson of Oostburg; a brother-in-law, Richard "Chip" Lemkuil of Oostburg; nieces and nephews. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Marian (Lawrence) Bosman and Lenore Lemkuil, and a brother-in-law, Oscar Robinson. A funeral to celebrate Margaret's life will take place at the First Reformed Church in Oostburg at 10:30 am on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, with the Rev. Brian Taylor officiating. Burial will take place at the Oostburg Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Family and friends will gather at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Tuesday from 4-8 pm, and on Wednesday, at church, from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 10:30 am.
