Margaret Arentsen

Margaret J. "Micky" Arentsen, 87, formerly of Oostburg and rural Cedar Grove, passed away on Sunday night, November 1, 2015, at Gables on the Pond in Random Lake. Margaret was born on February 18, 1928, in Cedar Grove, daughter of Garret and Delia (Boom) TenHaken. She was a 1946 graduate of Cedar Grove High School. On June 18, 1947, she married Irwin J. Arentsen in Cedar Grove. Irwin passed away on February 11, 2007. Margaret was a member of Hingham Reformed Church, where she was active in the choir. She was a member of the Homemakers Club. Margaret enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren. Margaret is survived by her two daughters, Marcia (Bernard) Van Roekel of Spirit Lake, Iowa and JoAnn (Jim) Woudstra of Colorado Springs, CO; her two sons, John (Sue) Arentsen of Oostburg and Mark (Julie) Arentsen of Cedar Grove; ten grandchildren, Jamison (Allison) Van Roekel, Dana (Joshua) Bolluyt, Mieka (Anthony) Stecker, Lee (Carmen) Woudstra, Larae (Shawn) Gutierrez , Nathan (friend Kris Laczynski) Arentsen, Elizabeth (friend Jeremy Mireles) Arentsen, and Matthew (Tanya), Steven, and Rebecca Arentsen; 16 great-grandchildren, Annika, Adrie, Dylan, Ethan, Bennett and Evan Stecker, Adalyn, Catherine, Joel and Elaina Gutierrez, Jackson and Anna Woudstra, Lucas and Leah Bolluyt, Josiah Arentsen and Mason Mireles; one sister, Alyce Veldhorst of Cedar Grove; and four sisters-in-law, Eunice (Roland) Dirkse of Oostburg, Helen Arentsen of Milwaukee, Donna Arentsen of Plymouth, and Jan Arentsen of Menomonee Falls. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Irwin, her son, Glenn Arentsen, one sister, Phyllis Heinen; one brother, LaMont (Muriel) Ten Haken, and one brother-in-law, Wesley Veldhorst. Funeral services to celebrate Margaret's life will be held at 10 am on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Hingham Reformed Church with Rev. Steven Bakker officiating. Burial will take place at Hingham Cemetery in the Town of Lima. Relatives and friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Wednesday from 5-7 pm, and at church on Thursday from 9 am until the time of the service at 10 am. A memorial fund has been established in Margaret's name for Hingham Reformed Church.
