Mabel LeMahieu

Mabel R. LeMahieu, 98, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at Pine Haven Christian Home. The former Mabel Nack was born on May 29, 1915, to the late Ulysses and Rosa (Manzke) Nack in Sheboygan. She was a 1933 graduate of Sheboygan High School and attended the Sheboygan County Normal School, graduating in 1936. She taught in rural Johnsonville and Erdmann. Mabel enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1943, serving during WW II. She was assigned the duty of a Link Trainer Instructor, teaching new pilots how to fly by instruments. Mabel was honorably discharged in October of 1945. On March 9, 1946, she married Robert J. LeMahieu. Robert passed away in April of 1965. Mabel was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls. She will be remembered for her strength of character and determination. Mabel is survived by her daughter, Jane (Gary) Plate of Sheboygan Falls; her son, Jon (Patricia) LeMahieu of Madison; five grandchildren, Michelle (Eirik) Rorvig of Madison, Danielle (Quinn) Doyle of Orlando, FL, Matthew (Carley) LeMahieu of Deerfield, Eric (Lori) Plate of Plymouth, and Lisa Plate of Sheboygan Falls; six great-grandchildren, Soren, Layla, Silas, Rory, Addison, and Owen, Mabel was preceded in death by her husband of 18 years, Robert, her parents, one brother, Donald Nack, and one sister, Ruth Meier. A memorial service to celebrate Mabel's life will be held at 12:00 pm on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Mark Janzen officiating. Inurnment will take place at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 12:00 pm.
