Loretta Axilda Povalski, 91, of Kohler, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan. Loretta was born on December 26, 1920 in Hubbell, MI, daughter of Nicholas and Marion (Chaput) Freiberg. She was a 1938 graduate of Lake Lindell - Hubbell High School and earned her paralegal certificate at Lakeshore Technical College. On November 27, 1947 she married Eugene Povalski at St. Cecelia Church in Hubbell, MI. Loretta was employed as a paralegal in the legal department of Kohler Company for 23 years. Loretta was a member of St. John Evangelist Catholic Church in Kohler. She was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Purple Heart Auxiliary, St. John's Mission Society, and the St. Ann's Altar Society. Loretta enjoyed cooking, sewing, and quilting. Loretta is survived by her husband of 64 years, Eugene; her son, Mark (Varangrat) Povalski of St. Paul, MN; two sisters, Marion (Bob) Rose of Green Bay and Jewel Dahlstrom of Ontonogen, MI; two brothers, Joseph Freiberg of Kohler and Lionel (Elaine) Freiberg of Port Charlotte, FL; one sister-in-law, Marjorie Freiberg of Mischicot. Loretta is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Sheryl Povalski; two sisters, Joan Freiberg and Theresa Bettens; and one brother, Lawrence Freiberg. To celebrate Loretta's life a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, May 11, 2012 at St. John Evangelist Catholic Church in Kohler with Rev. Bob Lotz officiating. Interment will take place in Woodland Cemetery in Kohler. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Friday from 9:00 am until the time of Mass at 10:30 am. A memorial fund has been established in Loretta's name for the American Cancer Society. Loretta's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the hospice and nursing staff at St. Nicholas Hospital for their kindness and love given to Loretta and her family at a very difficult time.
