Lois Smith

Lois E. Smith, 88, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Monday, December 3, 2012, at the Sheboygan Senior Community. Lois was born on December 24, 1923, in Plymouth, daughter of Charles Mark and Claudine Helen (Stier) Byrum. She graduated from Green Bay West High School in 1941. Lois married Donald E. Smith on August 29, 1953 in Sheboygan. Donald passed away on February 9, 2002. Lois was employed with R-Way Furniture and Nemschoff Chairs. In 1987 she retired from the Sheboygan Area School District where she worked as a secretary for 17 years. Lois was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls. She enjoyed reading, needlepoint, attending Army reunions with her husband, and lunch at The Point Restaurant with her friends. Lois is survived by brother-in-law, Ronald (Carol) Smith of West Bend; four nieces and nephews, Jackie (Brian) Hasenstein of Sheboygan, Chris (Mike) Friese of Appleton, Jeff (Cary) Smith of Cleveland, and Mike (Tina) Smith of Green Bay; 12 great nieces and nephews; dear friends and neighbors, Dave and Diane Nowak and family of Sheboygan Falls. Lois was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 48 years, Donald. Funeral services to celebrate Lois' life will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, December 7, 2012, at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Tom Gudmundson officiating. Entombment will take place at Garden of Peace Mausoleum in the Town of Sheboygan. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of the service at 10:30 am. A memorial fund has been established in Lois' name for St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls.
