Lois M. Hilbelink, 93, of Cedar Grove, died peacefully on Monday morning, May 28, 2012, at the Cedar Grove Gardens where she had resided for the past five years. Lois was born on May 13, 1919, in the Town of Holland, the daughter of Edward Henry (E.H.) and Hattie (TenHaken) Harmelink. She graduated as valedictorian from the Wisconsin Memorial Academy in Cedar Grove in 1936. Lois married the late Edwin Meinen in the Town of Holland on June 1, 1939. He preceded her in death in 1943. On June 6, 1944, she married the late Leland Hilbelink in the Town of Holland. Leland preceded her in death on March 25, 1966. Lois was a clerk at the Dirkse Grocery Store for over 25 years before her retirement in 1988. Lois was a longtime member of the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove. She enjoyed reading, playing cards, and gardening. Lois is survived by three sons, Dr. Ralph (Jeannie) Hilbelink of West Bend, Dr. Don (Amy) Hilbelink of Lutz, Florida, and Chief Petty Officer of the US Navy Jay (Diane Kallas) Hilbelink of Sheboygan; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Paul) Stockhausen of West Bend, Dr. Ryan (Julie) Hilbelink of Menomonee Falls, Lori (Dr. John) Gorby of Cortland, IL, Jennifer (Dan) Weaver of Marshall, WI, Garret and Hannah Hilbelink of Lutz, FL; nine great grandchildren; and one brother-in-law, Harold "PeeWee" TenHaken of Sheboygan Falls. Lois was preceded in death by her first and second husband, one son, Gene Hilbelink; three sisters, Harriet TenHaken, Eunice (Willard) Veldhorst, and Edith (Herbert) Meinen; one brother, Ervin (Wilma) Harmelink and a longtime companion, Con Poppe. A funeral to celebrate Lois' life will be held at 11 am on Friday, June 1, 2012 at the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove with the Rev. Kent Vant Hul officiating. Burial will follow at the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Friends and family may gather at the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove on Friday from 10 am until the time of the service at 11 am.
