Lloyd Schreurs, 87, of Cedar Grove died late Saturday night, April 20, 2013 at the Cedar Grove Gardens where he had resided since November 2011. Lloyd was born on March 8, 1926 in the Town of Holland, the son of the late Albert and Amy (Rushton) Schreurs. He attended River Valley School in the Town of Holland. He served in the US Army as a medic in Germany from 1950-52. Lloyd was a lifelong dairy farmer in the Town of Holland. There he farmed the family homestead which was given the designation of being a Century Farm after being homesteaded by his grandfather. Lloyd was a recipient of the High Quality Milk Production Award given by Lake to Lake. He was also a milk hauler for several years for Herb Risseeuw Trucking. He was a lifelong member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove where he served as a trustee, and the Union Cemetery Board of Directors where he served as president for many years. Lloyd was a 60 year member of the American Legion. He enjoyed baseball, especially the Chicago White Sox, bowling, and his dog, Koby. Lloyd served as a mentor to numerous area children. Lloyd is survived by two sisters, Harriet and Muriel Schreurs of Cedar Grove; four cousins, Howard (Nancy) Rushton of Cedar Grove, Robert (Lillian) Walvoort of Oostburg, Glen (Nancy) Walvoort of Sheboygan Falls, and George (Lennis) Walvoort of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister, Lillian Schreurs. A funeral to celebrate Lloyd's life will be held at the Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 with the Rev. Ronald Beabout officiating. Burial and Military Honors will take place at Union Cemetery in the Town of Holland. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 5-7 pm, and on Wednesday, at church from 12:30 until the time of the service at 1:30 pm.
