Lincoln W. Davies, 94, of 408 South 11th Street Oostburg, went home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday evening, February 7, 2009 at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice Center in Sheboygan Falls where he resided for the past three days. Lincoln was born on February 19, 1914 in the Town of Wilson, the son of the late Walter and Jennie (VerVelde) Davies. He attended Harmony School in the Town of Wilson, graduated from Oostburg High School in 1931 and the Sheboygan Business College in 1933. He served in the US Army in the South Pacific during World War II from 1941-45 where he was an International Morse Code Radio Operator. Lincoln worked as a machine operator at Gilson Mfg for 35 years before his retirement in 1980. He married the late Gertrude VanderWaal on November 17, 1944 in the Town of Lima. She preceded him in death on October 8, 1979. On August 15, 1986 he married the former Jeanette (Dekker) Neerhof in Sheboygan. Lincoln was a charter member of the Bethel Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Oostburg where he sang in the choir and was a member of the Men's Society. Lincoln considered a person's spiritual life a very important part of life as it is of great eternal value which will never end. He served as a member of the Oostburg Christian School Board and belonged to the Hartman-Lammers Post of the American Legion in Oostburg. He and Jeanette volunteered at the Friendship Club in Sheboygan and were strong supporters of the Right To Life movement. They enjoyed traveling together throughout the United States and Canada, gardening and visiting with family and friends. Lincoln is survived by his wife, Jeanette; two daughters, Janet (Claude) Bos of Palos Heights, IL, Jean (Bob) Velier of Town of Wilson; four sons, Gerald (Jeanne) Davies, James (Donna), John (Ann), and Lincoln J. (Gail) Davies, all of Oostburg; 19 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; one step daughter, Lois (Bob) VanHouwelingen of Pella, Iowa; three step sons, Rev. Karl (Cherie) Neerhof of Littleton, CO, Paul (Beverly) Neerhof of Brookfield, and Dr. Mark (Betty) Neerhof of Lake Forest, IL; nine step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; one sister, Esther VanderWaal of Oostburg; and one brother, Arthur (Olive) Davies of Grand Rapids, MI. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gertrude; a grandson, Rory Velier; two sisters, Gertrude (Robert) TenPas, and Henrietta (Edwin) Wynveen, three brothers, Henry, Oliver (Edith), and John (Hermina) Davies; and one brother-in-law, William VanderWaal. Funeral services will be held at the Bethel Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Oostburg on Wednesday, February 11, 2008 at 11 am with the Rev. John Tinsley officiating. A family service will precede in the fellowship hall at 10:45 am. Military rites and burial will follow at Hartman Cemetery in the Town of Wilson. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Tuesday from 4-8 pm, and at church, on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of the service.
