Lily Carrier

Lily M. Carrier, 69, of Gibbsville, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Lily was born April 25, 1943, in Burlington, WI to Allen and Helene (Bodenhagen) Wong. She graduated from Waterford Union High School in 1961 and UW-Oshkosh in 1967. In 1988, Lily received her Master's Degree from Cardinal Stritch University. Lily married Charles "Chuck" Carrier on April 10, 1982, in Gibbsville. She taught at various schools with the last 32 years teaching at Thomas Jefferson Middle School in Port Washington. Lily was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Oostburg. She was active with the Presbyterian Women's Group, teaching Bible School, and serving as church representative for Pine Haven's Women's Group. Lily was a lifetime member of WEA (Wisconsin Education Association) and NEA (National Education Association). Lily loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed gardening, scrapbooking, traveling, sewing, and cooking. Lily is survived by her husband, Charles "Chuck"; one daughter, Zara DeVougas Radtke of Hartford; one step-daughter, Beth Jackson of Madison; two step-sons, David Carrier, Ben (Elena) Carrier of Janesville; six grandchildren, Geoffrey and Taylore Radtke, Tyson and Adriel Jackson, Alex Carrier, Gabby Estrada; two great-grandchildren, Destany and Terrin Jackson; one brother, Allen (Chris) Wong of Waterford; one brother-in-law, Alan (Pat) Carrier of West Bend; one sister-in-law, Kay Carrier of Bozeman, MT; special friend, Suzie Schupp of Port Washington; many loving nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Lily was preceded in death by her parents; father and mother-in-law, Charles (Eleanor) Carrier; one brother-in-law, Bill Carrier. Funeral services to celebrate Lily's life will be at 6:30 PM on Monday, January 28, 2013, at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg, with Rev. Brian Jacobson officiating. Interment will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 29, 2013, in Fassett Cemetery in Edgerton, WI. Relatives and friends may greet Lily's family from 3:30 PM until time of the service Monday at the funeral home. A memorial fund is being established in Lily's name.
