Lilah Cain

Lilah M. Cain, 102, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the Pine Haven Christian Home. Lilah was born August 29, 1907 in Sheboygan Falls to Carl and Mamie (Kerskamp) Roepke. She graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1926 and attended the Sheboygan Business College. She worked at Rocky Knoll Sanitarium for 15 years. On June 15, 1940 she married Gilbert "Gib" Cain at Methodist Church in Sheboygan Falls. During Lilah and Gib's early married life, they lived on Little Elkhart Lake before moving to Sheboygan Falls in 1943. Gib passed away in June, 2002. Lilah was a lifelong member of Faith United Methodist Church in Sheboygan Falls where she enjoyed her involvement in the choir, the Ruth Circle, and the Women's Society of Christian Service. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the Plymouth Music Club. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, gardening, and flowers. Lilah is survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Lilah was preceded in death by her parents; husband Gilbert "Gib"; and one sister Elizabeth Roepke. Memorial services for Lilah will be at 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Faith United Methodist Church in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Don Drollinger officiating. Per their request, Lilah and Gilbert donated their bodies to The University of Wisconsin Medical School for scientific research. A memorial fund is being established in Lilah's name for Faith United Methodist Church.
