LeRoy J. Winkelhorst, 77, of 209A West Willow Avenue, Cedar Grove died unexpectedly on Saturday night, July 1, 2006 at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. LeRoy was born on November 12, 1928 in the Town of Holland, the son of the late John and Cornelia (Ter Maat) Winkelhorst. He graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1946. LeRoy served in the US Army during the Korean War from 1951-55. On November 7, 1964 he married the former Arlene Ten Haken in Cedar Grove. LeRoy was President at the Citizen, First Interstate and Norwest Banks in Cedar Grove where he worked for 32 years before his retirement in 1988. LeRoy was a member of the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove where he served as a deacon, elder and usher. He was also a member of the Oostburg Kiwanis Club, the American Legion Post in Cedar Grove and the Gideons International. He enjoyed golfing, computers, watching the stock market, flowers, Gospel and Bluegrass music, and family get togethers. He and Arlene traveled extensively throughout the United States and to over 23 countries. He enjoyed traveling to gospel music quartet conventions across the country and the many travel trips with his cousins. He is survived by his wife, Arlene; two foster brothers, Tom Bloomingdale of Cedarburg and John Bloomingdale of Milwaukee; cousins and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Thursday, July 6, 2006 at the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove with the Rev. Earl Slotman officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove on Wednesday from 4-7 pm, and on Thursday, from 9 am until the time of service.
