LeRoy Ahrens

LeRoy W. Ahrens, 80, of Sheboygan Falls died at his home with his family at his side on Friday afternoon, August 16, 2013. LeRoy was born on July 20, 1933 in Sheboygan, the son of the late Milton and Violet (Behrensprung) Ahrens. He was a 1952 graduate of Sheboygan North High School. While in high school he was a pitcher for the first baseball team at North High School and was known as "PeeWee Ace Ahrens". LeRoy married Barbara Sejba on April 22, 1961 in Sheboygan. LeRoy worked for the Kohler Co. for 36 years before his retirement in 1998. He was a member of the Kohler Quarter Century Club and sold programs at Lambeau Field for the Green Bay Packer games. He collected Green Bay Packer memorabilia, was an avid Milwaukee Brewer fan, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, music, playing cards, and growing roses. LeRoy is survived by his wife of 52 years, Barbara; two daughters, Kelly (Joel) Bertram of Howards Grove and Amy (Terry) Debbink of Sheboygan Falls; two sons, Tim Ahrens of Sheboygan Falls and Jeff (Bobbi) Ahrens of Plymouth; 8 grandchildren, Sara (Michael) Peters, Stacey (friend Tyler Meyer) Bertram, Garrett, Brandon (friend Abby Milbrath), Abby, Greta Debbink, Donovan and Briana Ahrens; two great grandchildren, Peyton and Josie Peters; one sister, Carol Randall of Elkhart Lake; one brother, Ronald (Jeannie) Ahrens of Sheboygan; and four sisters-in-law, Sandra (Richard) Dolgner of Howards Grove, Janet (Vernon) Conrad of Cleveland, Carol (Bill) Fleming of Green Bay, and Lynda (Rick) Lackey of Sheboygan Falls. LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, and an infant brother, Milton Ahrens Jr. A funeral to celebrate LeRoy's life will take place at the Wenig Funeral Home in Sheboygan Falls on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 7 pm with Chaplain Ellyn Becker officiating. Burial will take place at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. The Ahrens family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Bettag and his staff, and the staff of St. Nicholas Home Health Care and Hospice, in particular to Terri, Julia, and Janet, for the dedicated and loving care given to LeRoy and their family.
