Leona Buss

Leona Lydia Buss, 89, of Sheboygan Senior Community Beach Health Care, of Sheboygan and Oostburg, passed away Tuesday evening, September 29, 2009. Leona was born on November 17, 1919 in Sheboygan, daughter of the late John and Leona (Nommensen) Lorenzen. She was a 1937 graduate of Sheboygan High School. On August 16, 1941 she married Earl R. Buss in Sheboygan Falls. Earl preceded her in death on December 8, 1995. Leona was employed with Schultz-Sav-O in Sheboygan for 20 years until the time of her retirement in 1979. Leona was a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Sheboygan where she was a member of the choir and a Sunday School teacher. Leona loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crafts, crocheting, and traveling. Survivors include three daughters, Eileen (David) Hilbelink of Appleton, Francine (Gary) DeMaster of Oostburg, and Julie (Patrick) Lamb of Sheboygan; one son, Gary (Nancy) Buss of Sheboygan; eight grandchildren, Kerri Hilbelink, Scott (Nicole) Hilbelink, Troy (Angie) DeMaster, Kimberly (Chris) Grosskreutz, Bryan (Megan) DeMaster, Kelly (Otis) Richardson, Erin (Tod) Holfeltz, and Shawn (Holly) Lamb; five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth DeMaster, Kailey and Tyler Grosskruetz, Aubrey DeMaster, and Eirik Richardson; special friend, Phillip Hermann; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, her parents, and two brothers, Richard Lorenzen and Arthur Lorenzen, and three sisters, Marge Weber of Sheboygan, Lorraine Schild of Brookfield, and Verna Metscher of Green Bay. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 11:00 am at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg with the Rev. Wayne DeVrou officiating. Burial will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at the Wenig Funeral Home in Oostburg on Saturday from 9:00 am until the time of the service at 11:00 am. A memorial fund has been established in her name for the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society. Leona's family is especially grateful to the staff at the Sheboygan Senior Community for their loving and compassionate care during her stay there.
