Lena W. (Schaap) Lauer, 101, of Sheboygan Falls, passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2015, at the Sheboygan Progressive Health Care Center. Lena was born on August 29, 1914, in Greenbush, WI, daughter of Christ and Rena (Van Sluys) Schaap. She attended Rathbun School. Lena worked at Lakeshire Cheese in Plymouth. On October 30, 1934, she married Cyril Lauer, at St. John's Rectory in Plymouth. Cyril preceded Lena in death on September 24, 1986. After marriage, Lena became a full time homemaker. Lena was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls, where she was a member of the Christian Mother's Society and worked many years on the turkey dinner. She was also a den mother for the Cub Scouts and worked at the election polls in Sheboygan Falls. Lena and Cyril had a cottage at Mountain, where they spent a lot of good times with family and friends. Lena's pride and joy were her flower gardens. She also loved music and dancing. She waltzed with her walker at her 100th birthday party. Before entering Sheboygan Progressive, she attended the Sheboygan Falls Senior dining where she spent time with old friends and made new friends. She always enjoyed their activities. Lena is survived by two sons, Donald (Jean) Lauer of Sheboygan and Leon Lauer of Green Bay; her daughter, Rosemary Fenner of Sheboygan Falls; six grandchildren, Allen (Debbie) Fenner, Chris (Jim) Kroeplien, Heidi Fenner, Edward (Christine )Lauer, Teresa Lauer, and Rina (Jeff) Zorn; four great-grandchildren, Joshua Kroeplien, Rachel Kroeplien, Jason Fenner, and Nicole Fenner; and one sister-in-law, Arlene Schaap. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and many friends. Lena was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Cyril, one son-in-law, LeRoy Fenner, her sisters, Mame (Harko) Veldman, Jen (Peter) Veldman, Josephine (Schaap) Reick, Elizabeth (Arthur) Wimmler, Evelyn (Gerald) Hofschield, and her brothers, Cornelius (Helen) Schaap, John (Arlen) Schaap, William (Bernice) Schaap, Jake (Marie) Schaap, and Edward (Harriet) Schaap. Funeral services to celebrate Lena's life will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 1, 2015, at Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls with Rev. Bob Lotz officiating. Burial will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Sheboygan Falls. Family and friends may call at the church from 9:00 am on Tuesday, until the time of the service at 11:00 am.
