Leilah Knabe

Leilah O. Knabe, 87, formerly of Kohler, died Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at Morningside Health Care Center, where she had resided for the past four years. She was born September 19, 1920 in Sheboygan, the daughter of the late Max and Ella (Schuman) Richter. She was a graduate of Kohler High School. On August 17, 1940 she married Roland H. Knabe in Sheboygan. Leilah was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler. She knitted many sets of mittens for the church and enjoyed fishing, crocheting, playing cards, and doing word puzzles. Survivors include her husband, Roland; one son, Allen (Stella) Knabe of Elkhart Lake; three grandsons, Kenneth (Sue) Knabe of Sheboygan, Eugene (Ann) Knabe of Waterford, Neal (Jane) Knabe of Raleigh, NC four great grandchildren; one foster great granddaughter; and a brother, Harvey Richter of Rocky Knoll in Plymouth. Leilah was preceded in death by one brother, Elroy Richter. Funeral services for Leilah will be held on Monday, November 19, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Kohler with the Rev. Robert Steele, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place at Woodland Cemetery. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
