Leander Steffen

Leander Steffen, 93, of Sheboygan Falls entered Heavens gates Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Pine Haven Residential in Sheboygan Falls. He was born on June 13, 1920 to the late Frank and Veronica (Seichter) Steffen. He attended St. Martins Elementary School in Charlestown in Calumet County. Leander served his country during WWII from 1945-1946 in the U.S. Navy. On October 13, 1962 he married Mary Heimann-Karls in Sheboygan Falls. She preceded him in death in 2008. Leander was a laborer at the Kohler Company for 38 years until his retirement in 1985. Leander was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls since 1962. He was a member of the Kohler Union #833, the American Legion Post #149 and the Kohler Quarter Century Club. Leander loved playing sheeps head, listening to polka music, wood working, gardening, was an avid Brewer fan and he loved visiting with friends. He is survived by 3 step-daughters, Janet (Frank) Lakotich of Helena, AL, Jane (A.C.) West of Meadow Vista, CA and Joyce (Robert) Kubinek of Three Lakes, WI; 1 step daughter-in-law, Jeanne Karls of Sheboygan Falls; 12 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and 1 brother, Alen (Sandy) Steffen of Kiel, WI. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Leander was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary; 1 step son, James Karls; one step daughter, Joan (Fred) Braun; 5 brothers and 2 sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Leander's life will be on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 12pm (noon) at Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls, with Rev. Bob Lotz officiating. Burial will take place in St. Mary Cemetery next to his wife in Sheboygan Falls with full military honors. Family and friends may call upon the family Wednesday, January 8, 2013 at the church from 10am until the time of mass at noon. In lieu of flowers memorials to Pine Haven or Sharon S. Richardson will be greatly appreciated.
