LaVerne Veldman

LaVerne Margaret Veldman, 90, of Sheboygan Falls passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Pine Haven Christian Communities - Faith Home. LaVerne was born on July 19, 1926 to Garrett and Henrietta (Prange) Hoitink at the family home in the town of Lima. She attended Banner School. On May 12, 1950 she married Williard Veldman in Cedar Grove. They enjoyed almost 67 years of marriage together. LaVerne worked at Museback Shoe Factory, Pine Haven Christian Home, Depke Shoe Store and assisted her husband, Willard, with income tax preparation. LaVerne was a member of First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls, where she participated in Women's Bible Study and church work groups. LaVerne enjoyed listening to Bill Gaither and Danny O'Donnel tapes, collecting Deflt and working on her scrapbooks. Above all, LaVerne cherished spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. LaVerne is survived by her husband, Willard; twin daughters, Joan (Douglas) Konzak of Milwaukee and Jean (Mark) Kappers of Sheboygan Falls; six grandchildren, Amie Konzak, Christopher (Sarah) Konzak, Angie (Eric) Ruscheinsky, Corey (Jenny) Kappers, Carrie (Matt) Nachtwey and Christy (Adam) Torrison; 13 great grandchildren, Faith, Grace and Carissa Konzak, Anthony, Gianna and Ace Ruscheinsky, Abigail and Kylah Kappers, Natalee, McKenzie and Brookelyn Nachtwey and Ellie and Landen Torrison; two sisters, Evelyn VanWyk and Neva Walvort; four sisters-in-law, Gertrude Graaskamp, Joan Hoitink, Shirley Hoitink and Sharon Petrauski; and two brothers-in-law, Howard Bimmel and Ronnie Petrauski. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. LaVerne is preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law, Peter and Jennie Veldman; step mother-in-law, Velma Veldman; twin brothers, Garret and John Hoitink; an infant sister; sisters-in-law, Delores Hoitink and Helen Bimmel; brothers-in-law, William VanWyk, Walton Walvort, LaMont Huenink, Winifred Graaskamp and Lloyd Hoitink. A funeral service to celebrate LaVerne's life will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 1pm at the First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls, with Rev. Brad Veenendaal officiating. Burial will be at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the church from 11am until the time of service at 1pm. In lieu of flowers memorial fund is being established for Pine Haven Christian Communities, First Reformed Church, and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in LaVerne's memory. Laverne's family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Pine Haven Christian Communities and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for all of their care and compassion that they gave to her.
