Lauretta M. Breunig, 80, of 6232 Frontage Road, Sheboygan Falls, died on Saturday night, July 18, 2009 at St. Nicholas Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Lauretta was born on August 22, 1928 in Waupaca County, the daughter of the late Raymond and Mary (Sammer) Fermanich. Lauretta graduated from Manawa High School in 1946. On May 24, 1952 she married Donald E. Breunig at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manawa. Lauretta is a member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls, and a former parishioner of St. George Catholic Church in the Town of Wilson. She served as a CCD teacher and past president of the Christian Women's Society. She was a 4-H leader and member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society where she volunteered her time at the store. Lauretta enjoyed gardening, cleaning, crocheting, needlework, and crossword puzzles. She was a fabulous "birthday cake maker" and enjoyed spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren's events. Faith and family were most important to Lauretta. Lauretta is survived by her husband, Donald; four daughters, Mary Jo (John) Widder of Kohler, Jean (Peter) Pittner of Sheboygan, Karen (Paul) McCabe of Random Lake, and Donna (Gregory) Brooks of Plover; four sons, Kenneth (Theresa), James (Shirl), both of Sheboygan Falls, Richard (Cynthia) of Manitowoc, and Tom Breunig of Waunakee; 21 grandchildren, Deacon Matthew, Paul and Sarah Widder, Teresa, Christa (fiancé Drew Smith) and Maria Pittner, Joseph, Katie and Kristin McCabe, Dustin and Derek Brooks, Jeff, Laura, Eric and Rachel Breunig, Melissa Breunig, Aaron (Nicole), Amanda, and Alexis Breunig, Kyle and Mikaela Breunig; one sister, Theresa Fermanich of Novato CA; three brothers, Raymond (Wanda) Fermanich, John (Virginia) Fermanich, and Paul (Beverly) Fermanich, all of Rockford, IL: two sisters-in-law, Nancy Breunig of Gibbsville, and Karen Breunig of Waterford; and two brothers-in-law, Ronald Olson of Florida and John (Judy) Breunig of Evansville, IN. Lauretta was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Sr. Raymond Marie SSF, and LaVerne Olson; and one brother, Bernard Fermanich. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at 10:30 am with the Rev. Bob Lotz and Deacon Matthew Widder officiating. Burial will follow at St. George Catholic Cemetery in the Town of Wilson. Friends may call at Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls on Wednesday from 4-8 pm, and on Thursday, from 9:30 until the time of the Mass.
